SKILLS IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO COMPLETED THE ONLINE COURSE. Our CPR/AED/First Aid Training is done in a blended format, part online and part in-person skills.
This Part Two – In-person Skills course of the Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Red Cross Blended Learning is for those who have COMPLETED the Online portion (Part One – Online). This skills course is an opportunity to practice, demonstrate the hands-on skills, and earn a full 2-year certification. The instructor-led course is held at Suite #3693, 35425 Michigan Ave. West, Wayne, Michigan.
You MUST bring your (paper or digital) documentation of completing the online learning.
Class starts on-time, no late admittance is permitted.
If you feel ill, please reschedule.
Skills course must be done within 90 days of completing online training. You, the student, are responsible to provide proof of completing the online training BEFORE you may attend a skills course. If you have not completed the online portion or cannot provide verification, you cannot attend a skills class.

Overview of developmental disabilities, mental Illness, substance use disorder, and co-occuring disorders. The history of institutionalized living and treatment of individuals living with developmental disabilities. Discussion of people first language and the importance of building natural supports. Principals of Person Centered Planning and Self Determination. Guest speakers present additional topics.
Introduction is held online via Microsoft Teams, in one half-day session. One day prior to class, emails are sent with the class link. Attendance and participation are mandatory. Student driving is not permitted. Testing includes a written test completed online.
Learn the characteristics of a healthy diet and the impact of proper nutrition on physical health and well-being. We’ll show you how to assist individuals with healthy food and exercise choices, budget, medication/food interactions, food allergies and intolerances, implementing special diets, weight management, and food safety.
3-hour class via Microsoft Teams
One day before class, students receive an email with the class link. Microsoft Teams APP may be required.
Attendance and participation are mandatory.
Driving is not permitted.
Testing includes a written test completed online.
The CPR/AED/First Aid Training is done in a blended format (Part One – online and Part Two – in-person skills) Can be completed any time! Available 24/7.
This Part One – Online portion of the Red Cross Blended Learning equips students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. This self-paced online training is done at redcrosslearningcenter.org and takes approximately 3:50.
Please use a computer or tablet with a high-speed internet connection, NOT a phone. Using this link you will register yourself and complete the training at your own pace. Upon completing all 7 modules, you should receive an

Working with People I is the first of two training class for direct support professionals on how to best develop relationships with the people we serve. Both proactive and reactive approaches are discussed. People we serve assist in this training as co-trainers to teach on topics to include our values, effects of people past, autism, crisis preparation, developing natural supports, and suicide prevention. We utilize a variety of training approaches depending on topic to stress our agencies mission and how to put it into practice.
Spirit of Support training is the in-home equivalent to Working with People I and II. It is completed by a Trainer who has completed the Spirit of Support Train the Trainer class (see below).
This class meets the requirements for the following State Training Guidelines: Autism Spectrum Disorder; Crisis planning; Building Natural Supports; Human Relationships; Philosophy and Current Trends; Person Centered Planning; Suicide Risk; Teaching Life Skills; and Trauma
Must be taken before Working with People II

Medications can have a significant impact on people; their overall state of health, behavior, and the ability to prevent, combat, and control disease. This class, Basic Medications Part One (Theory), focuses on the information you need to safely and accurately perform the critical task of medication administration. Topics covered incudes Transcription, the Five Rights of Medication Administration, and Documentation. Also covered are the Effects of Medications, Medication Errors, Safe Disposal of Medications, and Managing Medications After Hospitalization. Transcription and the proper steps of medication administration are demonstrated. This class is two half-day sessions via Microsoft Teams. One day prior to class, emails are sent out with the class link (one link for both days). Attendance and participation are mandatory. Testing includes a written test completed online. After successful completion of the written exam, return demonstration testing of transcription and medication administration will be scheduled by appointment (Part Two).
